Plaza Court Hotel boosts Over-40s World Cup preparations

Plaza Court Hotel has joined the IMC Over-40s World Cup Guyana 2026 as a Silver Sponsor, providing accommodation and hospitality support as organisers prepare to welcome the international cricket community.

The tournament, hosted by the Caribbean West Indies Masters Association (CWIMA), will bring together 16 international teams for 72 matches across Guyana from October 17 to November 1, 2026.
In a press release, CWIMA said the hotel has been working closely with its organising committee on accommodation arrangements, guest requirements and tournament logistics. That assistance will support the staging of matches across several venues and regions.
Guyana is preparing to receive teams, officials, invited cricket legends and tournament personnel from around the world. According to the association, reliable accommodation and local hospitality are important parts of ensuring the competition runs smoothly.
CWIMA Secretary Roy Singh welcomed the partnership, highlighting the work required away from the cricket field to host an international tournament.
“Hosting a World Cup requires much more than cricket grounds. It requires partners who are willing to work with us behind the scenes and help take care of the people who make the tournament possible,” Singh said.
“Plaza Court Hotel has been responsive and supportive, and we sincerely appreciate the role they are playing in welcoming our international cricket family to Guyana.”
The association said the hotel’s contribution extends beyond supplying rooms, with its involvement in planning helping organisers coordinate the needs of those attending the World Cup.
CWIMA also highlighted the value of partnerships with Guyanese businesses, saying such support helps improve the experience of international visitors while demonstrating the country’s ability to host major sporting events.
Alongside the competition, the World Cup will provide an opportunity to showcase Guyana’s hospitality, culture and passion for cricket. The event celebrates competitive masters cricket under the theme “Reignite the Fire. Relive the Passion.”
