Police find cocaine, ganja during operations in Linden, WBD

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) unearthed a quantity of cocaine and marijuana on Tuesday during separate operations ,leading to the arrest of two men.

The cocaine that was found at Mackenzie, Linden

Based on reports received, a party of Police Officers went to an abandoned house in Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara (WBD), where they carried out a search.
Upon their entry into the house, Police said a male occupant dropped a bulky black plastic bag and ran through the southern door of the building. Police ranks gave chase, but the man escaped.
A Police rank picked up the bulky black plastic bag and opened it, and inside the bag were several small transparent ziplock plastic bags containing ganja.
A transparent plastic bag with a number of tobacco leaves and several ziplock plastic bags were also visible. The ganja when weighed amounted to 250 grams.

The ganja that was found at Wismar, Linden

On that same day, Police arrested a 21-year-old man for possession of two grams of marijuana.
Police in Regional Division #10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) said they conducted a search exercise on a group of men who were seen ‘ganging up’ at the corner of Block 22 in Wismar, Linden.
During the search, two transparent Ziploc plastic bags containing a quantity of ganja was found in the left front pants pocket of the 21-year-old miner.
The young man was told of the offence committed, cautioned, and admitted that he would use the drug for personal reasons.
He was arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, with the cannabis which was weighed in his presence and amounted to two grams. The man remains in custody and charges are pending.

The ganja that was found at Onderneeming, WBD

Also on the same night, Police in the same region cracked down on a known ‘drug block’ located at Rainbow City, Mackenzie, Linden. Several persons of interest were searched during the drug and gun eradication exercise.
A 54-year-old mechanic of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was among those searched and one transparent plastic bag that contained a whitish/creamish substance suspected to be cocaine was found on his person. After being informed of the offence and cautioned, the suspect admitted that he sells the illegal drug.
He was subsequently arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, with the cocaine which was weighed in his presence and amounted to found grams. The man is in custody pending charges.
