Police to seek legal advice on Melanie fatal accident

Investigators probing the accident which claimed the life of Ronaldo Sauldrepaul, a 29-year-old security officer and resident of Venezuela Scheme at Melanie, East Coast Demerara (ECD), who succumbed on Tuesday last, are in the process of seeking legal advice.
This was according to the Guyana Police Force’s Public Relations officer Mark Ramotar. He said that the case file is currently being prepared, and will be dispatched to the office of the Police’s legal advisor, to know the way forward.

Sauldrepaul had died three days after the accident occurred at a city hospital, where he was receiving treatment for injuries he sustained. The accident occurred two Saturdays ago at about 18:55h on the Plaisance Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
Reports are that Sauldrepaul was proceeding west along the southern driving lane of the Plaisance Public Road on a motorcycle when motor car PPP 6446 drove north out of Prince William Street, onto the Plaisance Public Road, and into the pathway of the motorcyclist.
As a result of the collision, Sauldrepaul received injuries about his body. He was assisted by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit, and was subsequently transported to the Woodlands Hospital to seek medical attention.
Police ranks visited the hospital where Sauldrepaul was admitted, and saw him in an unconscious state receiving medical attention.
However, three days later, Sauldrepaul succumbed to his injuries. The car’s driver was later arrested, charged, and placed on $300,000 station bail. (G9)
