Pomeroon man busted with over 3kg cocaine gets 3 years

– Venezuelan duo remanded

Sentenced: Gavin Adams

Fifty-four-year-old Gavin Adams, who was busted with a quantity of cocaine last month, was on Friday sentenced to three years imprisonment after pleading guilty to a narcotics’ possession charge.
Adams, who initially pleaded not guilty to the charge which stated that, on May 19, 2024, he had 3.348 kilograms of cocaine, reportedly changed his plea to guilty when he appeared before the Sparendaam Magistrate on Friday. As such, the sentence was imposed by the magistrate.

However, Gomes was released during the preliminary investigations, but De Jesus Figueira was remanded to prison after changing his plea from guilty to not guilty when he appeared at the Charity Magistrate’s Court on June 19, 2024.
In addition, CANU officers subsequently visited Adams’s home at Grant Woodland, Lower Pomeroon River, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), where another Venezuelan national, Sergio Ortiz Rafael, was arrested with 5.6 kilograms of cocaine.
He, too, was remanded awaiting trial.
