Port Mourant Clash at the Big Yard horse race postponed

…New race date set for October 18

The return of horse racing action at Port Mourant Turf will be delayed further due to the current shortage of feed for the horses and ongoing remedial work at both tracks in Region Five, West Coast Berbice (WCB).
The management of Port Mourant Turf Club, in the interest of fairness and good accountability, decided to shift the race date from September 27 to October 18, 2026.

The board of Port Mourant Turf Club apologises for the inconvenience this postponement caused but stands for a level playing field.
On October 18, the new horse race will now be titled Showdown of Champions Stakes and Clash at the Big Yard Stakes.
General Admission is $3000, and 10 exciting races are on the cards. The juvenile invitational two-year-old will be in honour of the late Carlton Blackmouth Pluck.
The feature race will be the Doodnauth Shook Sivmangal Memorial Clash at the Big Yard stakes, where the total purse is GY$1.6 million.
All of the top horses will be fresh and ready for the first competitive race since the Guyana Cup back in August. Guyana Cup winner Sand Pipes will be the horse to watch.
The top horses from Js Racing Stables, Slingerz Racing Stables, Master Z/Jumbo Jet and Jagdeo Racing Stables are expected to showcase thrilling battles on October 18.
