Rain plays spoil after Edie, Shewprasad and Stewart shine

Keith Edie, Navin Stewart and Kelvin Shewprasad have had good outings for Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ) in the New York National 30-over and 40-over competitions.
Playing against Richmond Hill in the 40-over competition, MMZ posted 239-4 in a reduced 35-over match, which saw no ball being bowled in Richmond Hill’s chase.
Keith Edie starred for MMZ, scoring from 95 balls an unbeaten 87 that was decorated with five fours and two sixes, while Navin Stewart slammed 56 from 45 balls, inclusive of six towering maximums and one four. Guyanese boys Jahmeil Jackman and Terrence Madramootoo took 1-30 and 1-34 respectively.

Meanwhile, MMZ won the match played against the King’s Men Cricket Club. MMZ scored 167 all out in 29.3 overs, after winning the toss. In reply, King’s Men CC were 85-6 in 21 overs. Andy Mohammed and Brian Manniram scored 38 runs each, while Edie made 29.
David Atwell, Dearn Burrell and Calton Whyte each took two wickets. In reply, the King’s Men CC’s chase lacked impetus, and the team folded for only 85 runs made in 21 overs and at a cost of 6 wickets. Whyte top-scored with 26, while Andrew Buckle made 24.
Shewprasad was the pick of the bowlers with 3-11 in six overs. He was supported by Mohammed, who bagged 2-16.
