On a bright Sunday morning, Minister Ramson Jr received a warm welcome from the Jai Hind family. He disclosed that in addition to the six floodlights, $800,000 was sent to the Cricket Club for the project. Ramson Jr was impressed with the independent work done at Jai Hind.
Speaking on behalf of the Cricket Club, Anil Beharry expressed gratitude to the Culture, Youth and Sport Ministry for fulfilling the promise. Beharry also noted that the Club would repay the Ministry by taking good care of the floodlights and using the equipment to the fullest.
The Jai Hind Cricket Club was formed in 1940. Currently, the Club is not a member of the Berbice Cricket Board, but the venue is known as one of the best grounds around despite the small outfield. A host of national and international players who hail from Berbice use the beautiful outfield and pitch for practice. (Brandon Corlette)
