Riddim Squad, Camptown cruise to dominant wins in GFA Knockout

Camptown goalscorers L-R: Deon Alfred and Ozel Small

Riddim Squad Football Club (FC) and Camptown FC recorded comfortable wins when the Nalico/Nafico-sponsored Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Senior Men’s Knockout competition continued on Thursday evening at the Plaisance Community Ground.
Riddim Squad produced the most dominant performance of the night, thrashing Genesis FC 6–0 in the opening fixture. Despite the eventual scoreline, the first half was a relatively controlled affair, with Kelvin Gordon’s composed finish in the 16th minute separating the sides at the break.
The second half, however, told a completely different story. Germain Harry doubled the advantage just four minutes after the restart in the 49th minute, setting the tone for a one-sided contest. Jeshawn Marshall extended the lead in the 70th minute before Seon Grant made it 4–0 five minutes later. Marshall returned to complete his brace in the 78th minute, and Gordon fittingly capped the rout with his second goal in the 79th minute to seal an emphatic victory.
In the night’s second encounter, Camptown FC had to be more patient against a disciplined Northern Rangers FC unit but still emerged as convincing 3–0 winners. After a goalless first half, veteran striker Deon Alfred broke the deadlock in the 69th minute. Ozel Small added a second in the 78th minute to put Camptown firmly in control before Alfred completed his brace in the 90th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
The competition is set to continue today at the same venue with another double-header. Black Pearl FC will face Pele FC from 19:00h, while Beacon FC are scheduled to take on Motherland FC at 21:00h.
