A post mortem performed by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh on the body of 24-year-old Shenece Lawrence — who was reportedly killed by her reputed husband Jermaine Bristol at their Freeman Street, East La Penitence home on Wednesday, August 22 — proved that she had been stabbed 10 times to the neck and body.
Bristol was on Friday arraigned before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman with

the capital offence of murder. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which stated that, on August 22, 2018, he murdered Shanece Lawrence.
He was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on September 27.
Guyana Times understands that the suspected had been convicted for cocaine trafficking and sentenced to 60 months’ imprisonment in 2016. He had, however, appealed his conviction and was released on $300,000 bail pending the outcome of that case.

described by an aunt as not being a violent person; but the aunt has said that the duo had had a turbulent relationship, with constant intense arguments being featured.
The aunt has said her nephew had informed her that Lawrence had moved out from the home on August 16. She said the couple had been together for over five years.
One of the late Shanece Lawrence’s brothers told Guyana Times that Bristol and his sister had fought very often. He described his sister as having been a “good girl”, and expressed disbelief at Bristol’s actions.
Meanwhile, neighbours recounted one incident in which Bristol and Lawrence had been at a hotel in the city and he had begun to abuse her, resulting in her fleeing the location stark naked.
