STRIDE592 officially launched its SOCA Heart 2026 campaign on Thursday at Starbucks, MovieTowne Guyana, setting the stage for several weeks of fitness activities and heart health awareness.
The annual campaign, which stands for Strengthening Our Cardiovascular Advocacy (SOCA), will conclude on Sunday, September 27, with the SOCA Heart 5K, 10K, Kids Fun Run and Wellness Festival.
The event will begin at 05:30h at the Guyana Cricket Club ground, Bourda, and will bring together runners, walkers, children, and other fitness enthusiasts.
As part of the build-up, STRIDE592 will host weekly 5K and 10K group training sessions. Interested persons can register in person or virtually to participate in the training programme.

A Heart Health Education and Awareness Campaign will also be conducted throughout August to encourage healthier lifestyles and improve public understanding of cardiovascular health.
“Many heart diseases can be prevented through simple lifestyle choices, eating healthier, managing stress, and regular health checkups,” Woodlands Hospital representative Thomasine Aaron said.
Funds generated from the 2026 campaign will support the Heart Health Research Initiative for medical and pharmacy students at the University of Guyana.
Meanwhile, the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) will partner with the SOCA Heart Project to introduce the Restaurants for Heart Health Initiative.
During September, participating restaurants will offer a designated SOCA Heart Meal, either created specifically for the campaign or selected from an existing menu as a healthy, heart-conscious option.
Fusion Hospitality, Fresh Café, Le Chef Dustin and Herdmanston Lodge are among the participating restaurants. The meals and establishments will be promoted through the SOCA Heart, THAG and Guyana Restaurant Week platforms, along with restaurant spotlights and other campaign content.
Other restaurants interested in joining can contact THAG on 715-2883.
Registration for the SOCA Heart races and activities is open at STRIDE592.com. Persons can also contact the SOCA Heart Committee at [email protected] or 592-640-2444 for more information.
