Space Gym 2.0 is said to be a cut above the rest and certainly displays such with the latest technology and best equipment from brands like Hammer Strength and Life Fitness.
Aside from machinery, Space Gym will have specialised trainers on hand, a Zumba and yoga room, and a shake and food bar, catering to the diets of its members.
Speaking at the official opening on Sunday evening, Managing Director Lucas Matos emphasised on his family’s commitment to not only provide the best service and equipment, but an overall, health-conscious experience – a vision that was birthed in 2018.

Sport Minister Charles Ramson Jr takes a shot at the SpaceRide experience

The younger Matos said, “Together with our CEO Sergio Matos, myself and my sister Amanda Matos, we felt that we could improve. So, the desire to do something even better was born in 2018. With that, we believe that this facility is something that the people of Guyana deserve, it’s well-equipped.”
“We have the conviction that people need a new experience, the one that is dedicated to your health. We have state-of- the-art equipment, to provide the best when thinking of quality of life in a light and welcoming environment, a place of good coexistence, where you could relax not only your body, but also, your mind,” he added.
In addition to the other amenities, Space Gym 2.0 will be delivering their SpaceRide experience, a fleet of ICG7 Bikes connected to the instructor’s and offering scenic visuals from around the world.
Taking a shot at the experience was Sport Minister Charles Ramson Jr, who, during his feature address encouraged the Matos Family to continue ignoring criticisms and nay-sayers in their pursuits.
“My presence here is more than just about opening up a gym, it is a belief in an overall vision that is old, that requires the doubling down today and now, and understanding that there is a big vision for all of us individually and collectively and that there will be noise makers, but that the noise makers never win,” Ramson Jr shared.
“When you’re doing anything important, Sergio and Lucas, there would have been many people that would’ve thought that the idea of this high-quality gym, at this location or some reason, that is negative. There would be many people who would’ve said that.”
He went on, “Along the way, you will have a lot of people that will criticise you, a lot of people who will not believe in you. Also, there will have a lot of people that don’t believe in what you believe in. Similarly, as it relates to the country, there will be people who do not believe in the direction that you’re going, but it’s important for the folks who believe, that you push aside the noisemakers.”
Space Gym 2.0 will be opened to the public today, Tuesday, May 3, with hundreds of members already registered. The gym is also set to add outdoor features in the near future.
