nine-run victory over Mike’s Wellman. The Regal Masters batted first and posted a challenging 147-9. Mahase Chunilall was once again among the runs, blasting boundaries on his way to 41 while Samuel Kingston scored 23.
Sheldon Adams was the pick of the bowlers for the Wellman team, claiming four scalps for just 24 runs. Greg De Franca chipped in with figures 2-22.
Chasing 148 for victory, the overs ran out on the Wellman guys who could only score 138-7 from their 20 overs after some tidy bowling by Mahendra Hardyal and Fazleem Mohamed. Lloyd Rooplall was the main contributor who looked like he would be taking the game away from the Masters but got out for 44 runs. Nandram Samlall batted his way onto a solid 38 and Latchman Kallicharran was left not out on 21. By the end of the match, Hardyal claimed three wickets for 27 runs while Mohamed collected 2-26.
The Floodlight team found it difficult to get through the solid batting line-up of Fisherman XI. Floodlight clawed their way to 143-6 from their 20 overs with Anil Beharry stroking 40 not out. Patrick Khan and Richard Persaud were among the runs, striking 29 and 20 respectively. Pooran Singh was the stand out bowler claiming 2-21.
Fisherman XI made light work of the Floodlight bowling line-up, ending the game inside 17 overs and only losing four wickets. Ishwar Persaud and S Rampersaud missed out on half centuries as they both contributed 49 runs. Tanko Persaud slammed 31 and Robin Persaud got to 26 which anchored the Fisherman XI to a six wicket victory.
Parika Defenders got into the winner’s circle with a comfortable four wicket conquest over Albion Masters. Chasing just 144 for victory, the Defenders obtained their target with 13 deliveries to spare and only losing six wickets. Ucil Armstrong struck 34 not out while Mahendra Balgobin and Ramesh Rambharose struck 29 and 19 respectively. R Mangalie looked like he would restrict the Parika team from gunning down the total posted by the Berbice based team as he claimed 2-25. Randolph Latcha was the main reason Albion got the 143-8 after he smoked 49 runs and Jaga Bojh assisted with 47, but it was the quality of bowling by Beesham Singh (4-22) and Devanand Kannan (2-23) that restricted the Albion Masters.
The females also provided some entertaining cricket with Mike’s Wellwoman taking revenge for their male counterparts as they trumped Trophy Stall Angels by 17 runs.
Wellwoman clobbered an astonishing 197-2 in just 15 overs. Zola Telford was the master-blaster who smashed the Angels to all parts of the ground on her way to 89.
