Swan United FC and Timehri United FC booked their places in the final of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Elite League Playoff Qualifiers after recording semi-final victories on Friday night at the National Training Centre (NTC), Providence.
The two teams will now meet in the championship match today, Sunday, May 31, from 15:00h at the same venue, with both clubs aiming to move a step closer to securing a place in Guyana’s top-tier football competition.
In the opening semi-final, Swan United defeated Soesdyke Falcons FC 4-2 in an entertaining encounter.

Murphius Andrews opened the scoring for Swan United in the 20th minute before Terrelle Glasgow responded four minutes later to bring Soesdyke level at 1-1. Swan regained the lead through Christov Roberts in the 35th minute and carried a 2-1 advantage into the halftime break.
The Falcons continued to fight and found another equaliser in the 56th minute through Kelly Brown. However, Roberts struck again in the 65th minute to restore Swan United’s lead before Abram Webb sealed the victory with a late goal in the 85th minute.
The result completed a strong performance by Swan United, who advanced to the final after overcoming a determined Soesdyke outfit.
In the second semi-final, Timehri United FC produced a commanding display to defeat Herstelling Raiders FC 4-2.

Nyon Barron gave Timehri United the lead just before halftime in the 44th minute and doubled his tally one minute into the second half. Joseph Desvettico extended the advantage in the 52nd minute before Leon Evans added a fourth goal in the 61st minute to put Timehri firmly in control.
Herstelling Raiders mounted a late response through Jose Vasques in the 83rd minute and Jesus Perez in stoppage time, but the comeback effort came too late as Timehri United secured their place in the final.
With both teams producing four-goal performances in the semi-finals, Sunday’s final is expected to be a closely contested affair as Swan United and Timehri United battle for playoff supremacy and continue their pursuit of Elite League qualification.
