Teen among 2 nabbed within illegal gun, ammo

A teenager and a 24-year-old man are now in Police custody after they were found, in separate busts, with illegal firearms along with matching ammunition.
In the first instance, ranks of a mobile patrol observed and intercepted a motorcycle without registration plates at about 20:00h on Friday at Cummings Lodge Public Road, Greater Georgetown.

A search was subsequently carried out on a bag the suspect had in his possession during which an unlicensed semi-automatic Intratec DC9 pistol was found.
The 24-year-old suspect of Murphy Street, Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was taken into custody, while the weapon, which had no ammunition or magazine, and the motorcycle ridden by the suspect, were lodged. Investigations are going.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old resident of the Soesdyke/Linden Highway was also arrested by ranks in A Division (Georgetown-East Bank Demerara) on Friday evening.
According to reports, the ranks went to Emerald Tower Road on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway and detained the teenager after he was found in possession of three live rounds of.32 ammunition and a .32 revolver. The youth are in custody assisting with investigations.
