Teen in larceny case provides contradictory info on identity, age in court

A teen accused in a larceny matter linked to Orin Fraser, also known as “Lilawattie”, appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts earlier this week, where questions arose over his identity and age after he allegedly provided conflicting information to the courts in separate matters.
The teen appeared before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, charged with larceny involving $201,000 allegedly stolen from Alex Layne between March 20 and March 21, 2025, at Saffon Street and Independence Boulevard, Georgetown.
The charge had previously been brought jointly against Fraser and the teen. However, the case against Fraser was dismissed earlier after the virtual complainant accepted $100,000 compensation and indicated that he no longer wished to proceed with the matter.
When the charge was read to the teen, he entered a guilty plea with an explanation. In his explanation to the court, the accused denied personally stealing the money, claiming instead that Fraser had taken the cash while he was merely present at the scene.
During the proceedings, the teen told the court that he was 17 years old.
The virtual complainant informed the court that compensation was expected. The Magistrate then questioned the accused about how he intended to repay the money, particularly after he admitted that he was unemployed.
According to the accused, he is expected to secure employment and plans to begin repaying the complainant next week, starting with a payment of $40,000 toward a total proposed repayment of $100,000. The court subsequently released him on self-bail.
However, the proceedings also raised concerns regarding the accused’s identity and age after references were made to another matter in which he appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore in September 2025 on allegations that he stole $122,000 from a man at a supermarket.
In that earlier matter, the accused had also reportedly claimed that he was 17 years old. However, information provided to the court at the time, including the date of birth he allegedly gave, reportedly suggested that he may have been 18 years old.
Additionally, the prosecution previously informed the court that the accused had allegedly provided Police with a different name and age during investigations into that matter. On Friday, the teen again reportedly gave a different name from the one previously presented before the court.
In the September 2025 case, the accused reportedly told the court that he had picked up a bag while passing through an area and claimed he did not know what was inside. He further stated that after hearing a man shouting and chasing behind him, he began running before he was struck by a vehicle, after which the bag was retrieved.
The prosecution, however, had alleged that the accused took the bag and fled the scene before later being identified at a market, chased by persons in the area, and apprehended.
The current larceny matter involving the teen was adjourned until May 13, as the Magistrate ordered that the Police get a form of identification from the teen to know his true age.
