The inaugural Tertiary Basketball League: UG, GTI duke it out this Sunday in grand finale

The inaugural Tertiary Basketball League finals will be contested this Sunday, June 5th, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

The event is anticipated to be a highly competitive battle played in front of a sizable crowd and between the nation’s highest learning institutions: the University of Guyana, and the oldest technical and vocational learning institution the Government Technical Institute.
Both teams have made strong claims to the first Tertiary Basketball Championship in the YBG era, with GTI continuing in the tradition of attracting great basketball talent from across the country, and UG showing its ability in leadership by being able to make the right adjustments. The matches make for an exciting evening of basketball and entertainment for local fans and family members.
Preceding the finals will be the third-place game between two equally matched and talented teams in the Linden Technical Institute and the New Amsterdam Technical Institute.

The evening will also see a special half-time performance by local artist cKush, which would no doubt be one of the high points for fans.
Following the final, awards will be presented. First place awardee would receive a trophy, medals, plus $100,000; second place awardee would receive a trophy, medals, and $60,000. Third place awardee would receive a trophy plus $40,000. The award to be given to the MVP would include a trophy and a gift.
An admission fee of five hundred dollars ($500) applies for patrons to enter. The gates will be open from 15:00 hrs. The first matchup would see the third-place game beginning at 16:00 hrs and featuring New Amsterdam Technical Institute battling Linden Technical Institute.
The Championship game will begin at 18:00 hrs, and the Government Technical Institute would attempt to topple the University of Guyana therein.
