Top sponsors recommitting to Futsal Tourney

Popular merit awarding company, Trophy Stall and leading Insurance Company, National Fire Insurance Company (NAFICO) Limited are the latest sponsors to jump on board for the 3rd edition of the Cell Smart Mohamed’s Enterprise’s Futsal Tournament as it draws closer to kick off.

The presentations were done at both respective companies’ head offices. This year marks the second year that both companies are with the tournament.

According to Co-Director of the organizers of the event, New Era Entertainment, Aubrey Major Jnr, it is a privilege to have these companies on board with us and it is a big plus for the contenders to actually vie for these beautiful trophies. NAFICO donated the 1st place trophy in the female category while Trophy Stall contributed the top prize for the male division. The tournament will commence on November 25 with action set for the Mackenzie Hard Court in Linden and will run for nine nights with the finals set for December 26. The event is open to all Futsal teams and attracts an entry fee of $5,000 per team. Forms and the fees should be submitted by today which is the closing date for registration. Game nights are set for November 25 with the opening ceremony, followed by action on November 26, December 2, 3, 9, 10, 17 and 23. The grand finale is on December 26. Prior to the first game there will be a team briefing on November 19. The first prize is $400,000 along with trophies and replicas, up by $100,000 from last year. The second placed team will claim $150,000 and trophy, third $75,000 and trophy and fourth place will collect a trophy. Other prizes are on offer for the MVP, Best goalkeeper and Best young player.

The organisers have the females involved in this year’s event, while several exhibition games will be part of the attraction. Among those exhibition contests are the Promoters versus the Referees, Taxi Drivers against Mini Bus drivers and a specially arranged Media contest. Noel indicated that next year they are endeavoring to have school players involved to aid with the development of the game at the junior level. This year some 20 teams will be competing in the New Era Futsal tourney, up from the 14 that played in the previous edition. The organisers are promising an exciting and entertaining tournament with lots of side attractions. Patrons are encouraged to go and support the tournament as the teams put on their best show to claim the prize money on offer.
