Trio busted in attempted invasion at CHPA Director’s home charged, remanded

Days after they were arrested for attempting to break into the home of a Director of Projects attached to the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) at Tuschen New Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), the three suspects were charged and remanded to prison. Yohance Carroll, 22 and Earl Grant, 23, from Tucville Squatting Area, Georgetown, along with Adrian Greenidge, 23, a security guard from Cane View Squatting Area, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where they were charged with attempted robbery under arms. In addition, Greenidge and Grant were individually charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.
At court on Monday, they were not required to plead to the charges and were remanded to prison until October 9, 2026. It was reported that on the day in question, the victim was at his home when he exited through the western door to dispose of garbage, and as he returned inside, he secured the door and proceeded to his bedroom, where he checked his security cameras and observed four males entering his yard.
They were all wearing masks and reportedly approached the door, attempting to open it, but the victim immediately contacted the police and raised an alarm.
However, acting on separate information received, police intercepted three males at Fisher Dam, Zeelugt, EBE. During a search, they found a black firearm with three matching rounds of ammunition in a haversack that was being carried by Grant, and as such, he was taken into custody.
Police added that a further search was conducted on the other suspects, during which another firearm with three matching rounds of ammunition was found concealed on Greenidge, thus leading to his arrest. Following the review of the CCTV footage, charges were instituted against the trio.
