UG, East R/veldt, Mae’s, Charlestown record wins

“Hit It For 50” schools’ windball cricket competition…

During the course of the week, action in the “Hit It For 50” schools’ windball cricket competition produced notable wins for the University of Guyana; and East Ruimveldt, Mae’s and Charlestown Secondary schools, among others, in the male and female categories being contested at the National Gymnasium.

The UG Trojans won their games convincingly

Mae’s Secondary battled East Ruimveldt Secondary in a one-sided female affair in which Mae’s were able to post 123 without loss. Christine Ramdial led with 82 (6×9), and Tillaya Madramootoo supported with 30. East Ruimveldt, however, made light work of the total, ending on 126 without loss, with Yosonda Hoppie contributing 36.
The University of Guyana Trojans played in two matches, in the first of which they posted 138. Replying, L’Aventure Secondary could muster only 87-1, of which Sarah Hughes scored 24. In their second showdown, the Trojans posted 148-1, of which Akaze Thompson contributed 97 runs that included 10 sixes. In reply, a struggling Charlestown could post only 57-3, with Shania Maglorie top-scoring with 30.
In the final match of the female category, Camille’s Academy posted 112-2, with Stacy Flores contributing 82(6×14). Charlestown responded with 113-0, Althea Barnwell with 56 and Donna Lowe with 43 making light work of the total.
In the male category, The Business School’s commanding total of 106-3 was mainly due to Jeffrey Blair top-scoring with 64. In reply, Mae’s Secondary raced to 107-0 to win their encounter, Vikash Seeram with 56 and Rickesh Singh with 45 being the chief destroyers.
The final match in the male category saw East Ruimveldt posting 78-1, as Ranaldo Baldeo produced 30 runs. Charlestown responded with 80-0, as Myhien Khan top- scored with 48.
