The body of an unidentified male, who appeared to be of African descent and in his early teens was discovered on Saturday morning in the Demerara River behind the Marriott Hotel at Kingston, Georgetown.

The discovery was made at about 10:40h when individuals walking along the jetty at the Kingston Seawall r observed the body floating in the river and raised an alarm.
According to police reports, the body was later retrieved and examined by a doctor and no visible marks of violence were observed during the preliminary examination.
The remains have since been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where they await identification and a post-mortem examination. Investigators are expected to review footage from CCTV cameras in the vicinity as part of efforts to determine how the teen ended up in the river. Investigations are ongoing.
