Dear Editor,
Please allow me the opportunity to congratulate Hon Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, MP, on hosting the recent regional outreach in Region Six and, more importantly, on the excellent organisation of the event.
During my visit to the University of Guyana Tain Campus, where the outreach was held, I witnessed thousands of residents gathering in a peaceful and orderly manner to have their concerns heard and addressed. It was evident that this was not merely an outreach for persons to voice complaints but rather a forum that reflected the spirit of one family. Despite their eagerness to have their matters addressed, everyone remained disciplined and respectful throughout the day.
In many instances, when we see gatherings of such magnitude, we often expect confusion, noise, disagreements, and even confrontations. However, this was certainly not the case in Region Six. The people demonstrated remarkable discipline, patience, and respect for one another. I therefore extend my congratulations to the residents of Region Six, as well as the few persons from Region Five who attended, for displaying unity, love, and peace throughout the event.
I encourage everyone to continue fostering that same spirit of togetherness in our daily lives and interactions.
The Ministers and their respective teams who attended did an excellent job engaging with members of the public, listening attentively to their concerns, and ensuring that matters which could be addressed immediately were dealt with, while other issues were referred to the relevant agencies and regional officials for follow-up action.
The newly appointed Regional Executive Officer was also very approachable. I observed numerous residents engaging him on issues affecting their communities, and he took the time to listen carefully and provide guidance.
The Regional Health Department was fully represented, and many individuals with concerns regarding healthcare services and facilities were given advice and assistance. Efforts were also made to identify ways in which the system could be improved.
Parliamentarian Zamal Hussain and his team were actively involved throughout the outreach, helping to ensure that everything proceeded smoothly and that residents were directed to the appropriate departments and officials to address their concerns.
This outreach was most welcome, as it demonstrated that the people of Region Six are not only prepared to voice concerns and frustrations affecting the region’s development but are also willing to work together in unity and harmony toward solutions. It highlighted the fact that regardless of the challenges people may face, they can be addressed through cooperation, understanding, and collective effort.
I urge the regional administration not to wait solely for future Ministerial or Vice Presidential outreaches but to continue engaging residents by visiting communities throughout the region, listening to their concerns, and maintaining regular contact with the people. Such engagement will strengthen relationships with residents and enhance service delivery across the region.
Once again, I congratulate Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo and his team, the various Ministers and their teams, and the Region Six Administration for hosting a well-organised and productive regional outreach.
Hon Vice President, the residents of Region Five would warmly welcome a similar outreach in our region at the earliest opportunity so that their concerns may also receive attention. We look forward to such a visit.
Let us continue to work together in unity, peace, and love for the betterment of our people and country as we strive to build One Guyana.
Kind regards,
Abel Seetaram
