WI, Indian cricket fans appreciate President Ali’s intervention

Dear Editor,
On behalf of my New York-based family and West Indies cricketing fans all over the world, especially in the United States, let me publicly thank His Excellency the President of Guyana, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, for saving the day for the WI/India cricket matches scheduled to be played in Florida, USA this weekend.
The online sports site “cricbuzz.com” reported that “Thanks to the intervention of the Guyana Government, the US visas for some players and support staff of the two sides could be obtained, albeit at the eleventh hour. Cricbuzz can confirm that it required the efforts of Irfaan Ali, the President of Guyana, to get the travel approvals.”
“It was a timely and influential diplomatic effort by His Excellency”, said Ricky Skerritt, the President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), thanking the head of the Guyana Government.”
My brothers and I paid the handsome fares and fees for the Florida matches coming up this weekend, but we were told that many of the key players were lacking visas for the US – Games off! What a standup guy this President is, that he could take time off from his busy schedule to facilitate the visas for the fans.
Thank you, Mr President!

Sincerely,
Dev Persaud
