More than 50 students were engaged, during a career outreach session hosted by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) aimed at promoting opportunities within the organisation. The session was led by Human Resources Officer of Regional Police Division Six, Assistant Superintendent C. Kelly, who was accompanied by Woman Constable Arthur, a student of the New Amsterdam Technical Institute. The engagement is part of ongoing efforts to encourage young people to consider careers in law enforcement. During the interactive presentation, Assistant Superintendent Kelly outlined the Force’s modernisation initiatives, including improvements in training, the integration of new technology, and expanded professional development programmes. Students were also briefed on entry requirements, Police Academy training, specialised units and pathways for promotion within the organisation. Information was further shared on the benefits available to ranks, including job security, leadership development, overseas training opportunities and support for higher education. Kelly, who has served in the Force for more than 30 years, encouraged students to view policing as a stable and meaningful career option. She also noted that the GPF recognises both academic and technical qualifications, highlighting that vocational skills such as plumbing, carpentry and masonry are valued in recruitment and career advancement.

Regional Police Division Six said the outreach is part of its efforts to engage young people and promote careers that contribute to national safety, security and development.
