Youths shine at successful National Youth 18m Championships 2026

Archery Guyana successfully concluded its National Youth 18-Metre Championships 2026 on Sunday last at the Guyana Police Force (GPF) Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, bringing the curtains down on an exciting weekend of competition that showcased the country’s emerging generation of archers.
Following Saturday’s qualification rounds, the championship culminated yesterday with the highly anticipated elimination and medal matches, where 31 young athletes representing school and private clubs demonstrated exceptional skill, discipline, determination, and sportsmanship.

President of Archery Guyana, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, delivered the closing remarks during the medal presentation ceremony, congratulating every athlete for their dedication and courage while encouraging them to continue striving for excellence both on and off the shooting line.
In her remarks, Persaud-McKinnon commended not only the medallists but every participant, emphasising that every competition provides an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow. She also expressed sincere appreciation to the various affiliated clubs, coaches, parents, volunteers, technical officials, sponsors, and partners whose unwavering commitment continues to strengthen the development of youth archery throughout Guyana.
Archery Guyana extended its heartfelt congratulations to all medal winners and every athlete who competed over the two-day championship. Their performances reflect the continued growth of the sport and the increasing standard of youth archery in Guyana.
As the curtains fall on another successful National Youth Championship, Archery Guyana noted that they remain committed to creating opportunities for young people across the country to participate, develop, and excel in the sport.
The Federation expressed in a missive that they look forward to building on the momentum generated over the weekend as they continue to expand grassroots programmes and prepare athletes for future national, regional, and international competition.
