Following their successes in the Amerith Rocky Rai Memorial T20 Cricket on the West Coast of Demerara, Zeeburg cemented their place in the semifinal of the tournament, played over the weekend, as they demolished the in-form Rising Stars ‘A’ at the Tuschen Ground, East Bank Essequibo.
After winning the toss, Rising Stars elected to bat first. The Tuschen ground has in the past proven to produce 160- plus scores, and having thus far lost no match in the competition, the Zeeburg side were up for the challenge.
But Rising Stars folded for 80 all out in 18.2 overs of their allotted 20 overs, after performing so well in the competition.
No Rising Star player passed 11, as their batting failed them at the worst possible time. Zeeburg’s Richardo Poloram had 3-9, Yutesh Dhanpaul had 2 -14, and Reon Kingston 2-15.
Needing 81 for victory at four runs per over, Zeeburg made light work of the total, chasing the target down in 10 overs to reach 86- 2. Top scoring for Zeeburg were Balbinder Shivpersaud with 27.
Zeeburg now await their opponents, who will emerge victorious from a clash in the quarterfinal round this weekend.
