Police arrested a 22-year-old man at Enmore Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Wednesday evening after he was found with a quantity of marijuana.
The ganja that was found in the man’s motorcycle compartment
Based on information received, at about 6:30h, the man was found with 33.7 grams of cannabis sativa.
The Police have said that ranks were on patrol along the Enmore Railway Embankment when they observed a motorcycle being driven by the suspect, who was not wearing a safety helmet.
He was stopped and asked to produce his driver’s licence and relevant documents, but failed to do so.
He and the said motorcycle were taken to the Enmore Police Station, where a search was conducted in the seat compartment of the motorcycle in his presence, and a transparent plastic bag containing a quantity of ganja was found.
He was told of the offence committed and was cautioned, but he denied ownership of the narcotics. The said narcotics were weighed in his presence and amounted to 33.7 grams.
He was immediately placed into custody pending charges.
