18 shortlisted for Miss Guyana Teen Scholarship Pageant 2019

The Imperial House has launched its Miss Guyana Teen Scholarship Pageant with the aim of empowering teenage girls and contributing toward their education through scholarships.
Thirty applications were received in the initial stages of the pageant, but after a screening process, 18 have been selected to move on to the quarterfinals. Ten will move forward to the finals of the competition, which will be held on September 7, 2019 at the National Cultural Centre.
The Imperial House is working towards creating and implementing social programmes for the advancement of youths in Guyana through pageants and the theatrical arts.
The Imperial House’s mandate is to support social investments through youth empowerment, community service, entrepreneurship and the advancement of education for young persons
Furthermore, the public will have a chance to get involved in the happenings. The organisers will be awarding a special prize for the most photogenic contestants and the public can assist by voting for their favourite delegate. Meet the quarterfinalists:
Quissieana Odle: Hailing from Blankenburg, West Coast Demerara, 15-year-old Olde is a student at Queen’s College. She aspires to be a psychologist and considers herself a linguist. She spends much of her free time studying and analysing languages.
Devya Singh: Eighteen-year-old Devya hails from Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara. She is a former student of St Joseph High and is currently pursuing studies at the University of Guyana. She loves to look at documentaries.
Naheeryah Newland: This 15-year-old is a resident of Den Amstel, West Coast Demerara. She attends the West Demerara Secondary School. She hopes to take up a career in the paediatric field. Her hobbies are singing and meeting new people.
Carolann Correia: A former student of the North Georgetown Secondary School. She is 17-year-old Carolann and is now a 6th form student at the St Rose’s High. She resides at North Ruimveldt and is also a model attached to Jada’s Consultancy. She aspires to become a dental surgeon.
Niara Amsterdam: A resident of Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, Niara is a student at Mae’s Secondary School. Her dream career is as a paediatric anaesthesiologist. This 15-year-old enjoys singing, sketching and poetry.
Ashley Sands: Eighteen-year-old Ashley hails from the Linden. She is a student at St Joseph High School. She spends her free time reading mystery novels.
Sarona Fraser: From the community of North Ruimveldt, Sarona is a student at Queen’s College. She is 15 years old and aspires to work in public relations. She loves attending shows depicting any of the art forms. She also likes singing and being creative.
Nia Williams: She is a resident of Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara. At 17 years old, she is currently pursuing CAPE studies at Bishops’ High School. She is an aspiring lawyer/ politician who enjoys dancing, playing hockey and basketball.
Christel Mangra: This 15-year-old lives at Crane,West Coast Demerara. She is a student at Queen’s College. Mangra hopes to take up a career in auditing. Her hobbies are dancing, painting and swimming.
Daniela Aravjo: A model attached to Image Model Management, Daniela lives at Kaneville, East Bank Demerara. Her hobbies are writing, reading, listening to music and observing nature.
Jasmaine Assanah: This 17-year-old beauty is a resident of Wortmanville, Georgetown and a sixth form student at St Joseph High School. She hopes one day to become a criminal lawyer. Assanah enjoys theatre arts and sports.
Omaiah Hall: This former student of the Bishops’ High School and prospective student of the University of Guyana aspires to work in public relations. She enjoys dancing and modelling.
Ariel Alexander: She is a former student of Covent Garden Secondary School and presently a member of the Modern Adventure Youth Club. Originally from Skeldon, Berbice, this 18-year-old hopes to become a paediatrician.
Shazeena Ghannie: 15-year-old Ghannie is a student at the St Joseph High School. She aspires to become an entrepreneur and an artist. She loves painting and fostering animals which she does for the Rosewood Foundation.
Tamasha Oxford: A sixth-former at the Bishops’ High School and an aspiring oncologist. Oxford hails from Annandale, East Coast Demerara. The 17-year-old enjoys reading, painting, researching and composing music.
Kizza McLeod: This 15-year-old is a St Joseph High School student and a resident of Sophia, Greater Georgetown. She hopes to become a chemist. She loves dancing, socialising and visual entertainment.
Rayshana Gillis: At 14 years old, Rayshana is the youngest contestant. She attends Christ Church Secondary School and hails from Wortmanville, Georgetown. She enjoys singing.
Ramiesa Ganesh: Ramiesa aspires to one day become one of Guyana’s ambassadors. The 17-year-old is a former student of Zeeburg Secondary School. Her hobbies are dancing and sketching. (Pictures and profiles complement of Missosology)
