2 busted with compressed ganja in separate incidents

Police in ‘F’ Division (Interior locations) have recently conducted in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) separate interception exercises that have arrested two persons.
In the first case, 21-year-old Kavita Surujnauth of Parika, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) was intercepted at the Bartica Stelling with almost three pounds of cannabis. This occurred on Wednesday at sometime around 17:00h.

Guyana Times understands that the police, acting on information received, stopped and searched the unemployed woman, unearthing in a haversack the woman was carrying a parcel wrapped in black plastic bags and secured with scotch tape. She was taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the illegal substance was weighed and amounted to 1.29kg.
And on Thursday morning, 35-year-old OJ Evans, a miner of Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, was arrested with several taped parcels of compressed cannabis minutes after he disembarked a ferry at the Bartica Stelling.
According to reports, Evans was at a wharf in Bartica at about 10:15h, and was on his way to an interior location when he was seen by police ranks acting in a suspicious manner. A search was subsequently conducted on his belongings and the marijuana was found in a butter tub wrapped in a salt bag. The substance, when weighed, amounted to 1,227 grams of cannabis.
Both parties have been charged with the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, and are expected to be arraigned before the Bartica Magistrate today (Friday).
