T10 a good experience for all Jaguars players, says Captain Johnson

Fresh from winning the inaugural UDECOTT and Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) T10 tournament, Guyana Jaguars captain, Leon Johnson revealed that it was a good experience for his team. The Johnson-led Jaguars team that suit up to play seasoned T20 stars as Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Keswick Williams and Kieron Pollard, were exceptional in the newest format of the game.
Speaking exclusively to this reporter, Johnson, arguably the most successful Regional captain, shared some positive sentiments after the T10 experience. “It was a good experience for us all, it was our first time playing this format with the exception of Sherfane Rutherford”.

“The team did exceptional considering we came up against a very strong North Tobago side comprising of seasoned T20 players”, Johnson added. Guyana’s Christopher Barnwell and Trevon Griffith were among the positive signs that were taken away from the tournament. The formidable Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) duo displayed the art of power hitting against some big names in T20 cricket.
In the final match played in-front of a packed Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Guyana got revenge from the North/Tobago team with a 26-run win. Guyana got the highest score of the tournament aggregating 130-7 from 10 overs. Barnwell who looked solid and sound top-scored in the match with 44 while Chanderpaul Hemraj scored 27 and Anthony Bramble scored 25.
Keemo Paul displayed some brilliant death bowling in the final two wickets to restrict the North/Tobago team to 104-5 in 10 overs. Barnwell, played the innings of the tournament, scoring 57 from 16 balls against South/Central. His DCC club mate, Griffith exhibited a ray of reverse sweeps and sweetly timed shots in all his innings.
Guyana who had one defeat earlier in the tournaemnt against the same North/Tobago team were tasked to chase 93 runs in ten over but fell short by 12 runs finishing on 80-8. Chanderpaul Hemraj scored 36 runs in that match while Keemo Paul had 2-10.
The former West Indies ODI batsman, Hemraj shown impressive hitting, powering the ball over the ropes with great ease. Anthony Bramble who looks a more complete player in recent times has also had a good experience with the bat, scoring quick runs for his team. Sherfane Rutherford who has had experience in this T10 format playing for the Bengal Tigers, was amongst the 13 players that had a great experience.
