“Cross Eye” slapped with murder charge

Thirty-two-year-old Corwyn Arthur, also known as “Cross Eye,” of Lot 1038 Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward Linden, on Monday made his first court appearance before Linden Magistrate Clive Nurse, before whom he was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder, committed on 40-year-old Linden taxi driver Claude DeJonge, also known as “Sonno”, of Lot 915 South Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
The charge alleges that on May 10 last, at Lot 1074 Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward Linden, Arthur inflicted on DeJonge injuries which resulted in his death.
Unrepresented by legal counsel, Arthur was remanded to prison until July 21, 2018.

Taxi driver Claude De Jonge of Lot 915 South Amelia’s Ward, Linden was killed after an apparent triangular love affair had turned tragic. He was stabbed to death while at the home of his girlfriend at Cinderella City, Amelia’s Ward, Linden. His body was found at about 00:10h, lying motionless in a pool of blood next to the front door of the house. He was clad in trousers, but his body bore several stab wounds to the neck, shoulder and abdomen. A post-mortem examination (PME) performed on his body by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh gave the cause of his death as shock and haemorrhage due to multiple stab wounds. (Utamu Belle)
