Kuru Kururu to host inaugural Business Expo

Residents of Kuru Kururu, Linden-Soesdyke Highway are currently finalising plans to host the community’s first Business Expo, aimed at not only improving the market for local products and services, but also sensitising the public.
Kuru Kururu Small Business Association President and leader of the organising committee, Sasha Morrison, told Guyana Times on Wednesday that the exciting event was set for August 25, but they were yet to solicit support from Government Ministries.
Although the venue has not yet been confirmed, Morrison said that the one-day expo would not be limited to the community members only, but would be open to neighbouring villages such as Soesdyke, Timehri, and other villages along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
Food, salon, and several other businesses will be marketed at the event, which is

expected to kick off from 10:00h and conclude at 20:00h on the aforementioned date.
The Business Expo was inspired after the organisers realised the grave need for persons to become informed of what is available at hand’s reach.
Morrison said that many times although the services and products are offered right in the community, persons end up all over the country in search of same, which consumes and wastes a lot of money.
“Myself and a few other persons are business people and what we have observed over the past years is that the development in Kuru Kururu is very poor, so the attention that the community needs, especially for youths is not there. So, the idea of a business expo is to actually bring about more awareness for the community itself and also to help push the youths forward, so like even if you have an idea, they will be welcome to come out and network with these business owners, so they can now be more informed on how to go about starting and running their businesses,” Morrison pointed out.
So far, she noted that businesses have expressed interest in the event, and organisers currently hoping for the participation of at least 30 booths.
Morrison was keen to note that she would like to see more persons participate in the event, but the goal of 30 has been set given that this was the first time it was being hosted and she was cognisant of the fact that the community did not have too many entrepreneurs, something which they hope to promote as a viable livelihood at the Expo.
