BCB express gratitude to Brian Ramphal and other sponsors

The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), which on Sunday June 23, 2019 hosted their second Annual Awards Ceremony at the Port Mourant Cricket Ground, have said the event has been a huge success, and have deemed the $600,000 invested in its staging as being well spent.
Thirty-two major awards were presented to top cricketers, coaches and clubs from across the Ancient County, and more than 65 officials, umpires and events’ sponsors were honoured in this ceremony; while cricket bats were presented to Isai Thorne and Rampertab Ramnauth, the two Berbicians selected to tour England with the West Indies Under-15 Team.
The winning Inter-County Teams were also honoured, 13 clubs each received $200,000 worth of cricket balls and raincoats, and the 2nd edition of the Upper Corentyne Awards Ceremony was hosted.
BCB President Hilbert Foster, who spearheaded the hosting of the awards ceremony along with Public Relations Officer Simon Naidu, has expressed gratitude to its main sponsor, Brian Ramphal, for the massive investment he has made in Berbice Cricket.
Ramphal, Foster has said, is one of the main reasons why Berbice Cricket has been so successful over the last two years, and he has hailed the overseas-based Guyanese as a hero.
Foster has also disclosed that, over the last 17 months, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) MS, has also been a major supporter of Berbice Cricket, and has invested millions of its own funds to assist the BCB to administer Berbice Cricket. The Club’s massive investment in the awards ceremony includes total sponsorship of the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association’s Awards Ceremony and the cost of the donated cricket balls and raincoats.
Foster, moreover, has said the BCB would like to acknowledge the contribution of GuySuCo to Berbice Cricket in allowing the use of its venue, providing security during its usage, and preparing the centre for use.
Special mention, he said, must be made of GuySuCo officials Vemen Walter, Orvin Mangru, Roger McDonald, Moses Indardat and Teka Pooran for the invaluable assistance each has offered the BCB.
The BCB is also grateful for the outstanding contributions of journalists like Colin Bynoe Jnr, Brandon Corlette, Avenash Ramzan, Romario Samaroo, Frankie Wilson, Claude David, Denica Henry and Gregory Rambarran.
“We also salute the support of media outlets Stabroek News, Kaieteur News, Guyana Chronicle, Guyana Times, Newsroom, DTV-8, TVG, LRTVS CH10 and NCN. The entire management and staff of the BCB appreciate your assistance in promoting the work of the Caribbean’s most vibrant cricket board,” Foster has said.
“Finally, we would like to express gratitude to the following companies and individuals who contributed to the event: Guyana Beverage Company, Demerara Distillers Limited, Vickram Suebarran, Apex Insurance, Bissoondyal Singh, The Trophy Stall, Republic Bank, Mursalene Bacchus, A. Ally & Sons, Berbice Chamber of Commerce & Development Association, Berbice River Bridge, Region 6 Democratic Council, David Armogan, Dennis DeRoop, Bakewell, Metro Office and Computer Supplies, Port Mourant Cricket Club and Albion Community Centre Cricket Club.
“The entire Management of the BCB would like to recommit themselves to the continued development of Berbice Cricket, and (are) looking forward to working with all stakeholders in the future,” Foster has declared.
