BCB honours successful CSEC student/athletes

Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) President Hilbert Foster, in collaboration with former BCB President Anil Beharry, has been able to obtain sponsorship to honour six cricketers who were successful at the 2020 Caribbean Secondary Examination Council (CSEC).

The executives of the BCB joined the awardees for a photo after the short ceremony

The six student/athletes are Jonathan Rampersaud, Lucas Arthur, Mahendra Gopilall, Ashmini Munisar, Anthony Sukhra and Abdul Ramsammy.
Each player received $10,000 from the BCB. Satishwar Persaud of Canada, formerly of Vryman’s Erven, New Amsterdam, was the chief sponsor. He is the CEO of Andana Home, a real estate company.
Foster has expressed gratitude to Beharry and Persaud for their support to Berbice Cricket. Satishwar Persaud is also sponsor of cricket in Canada, where he owns a cricket team.
A financial stipend of ten thousand dollars was awarded to each of the six players who did well at the recent CSEC exams, with sponsorship from Satishwar Persaud of Adana Homes, based in Canada.
Rampersaud, Gopilall and Lucas Arthur plas their local cricket for the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) while Adbul Ramsammy plays for Tucber Park Cricket Club. Anthony Sukra hails from the Blairmont Community Centre Cricket Club (Blairmont Blazers) and Munisar, a female cricketer, plays from the Rose Hall Canje Community Centre Cricket Club.
At the presentation ceremony, BCB President Foster hailed the performance of the players and noted that it showed that sports and an educational career can still mix. He urged the students to always strive for excellence and to aim for more success.
He again expressed gratitude to former BCB President Anil Beharry and sponsor Satishwar Persaud for their support of our cricket, and announced that the board would continue the award in the future.
