Benn blasts century, Ramkarran provides late fireworks as GPF officers beat CPL Prestige XI

A breath-taking century from Troy Benn, followed by a devastating late assault from Kanhaiya Ramkarran, powered the GPF Officers to a commanding 50-run victory over the CPL Prestige XI in an entertaining T20 encounter at the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary, on Thursday.
Benn led the way with a magnificent 102 from just 45 balls as the GPF officers piled up an imposing 240 for five from their 20 overs. His explosive innings featured 13 fours and five sixes.
Vishaul Williams supported with 36 from 26 deliveries before Ramkarran provided the finishing fireworks, smashing an unbeaten 65 from only 20 balls. His whirlwind knock included seven sixes and one four as the officers finished strongly.
Set a daunting target of 241, the CPL Prestige XI featured several familiar names from regional and international cricket but fell short despite a fierce counterattack from Christopher Barnwell.

Former Ireland international Niall O’Brien made seven before being caught by wicketkeeper Kyle Michael off Joshua Kishundial, while former West Indies batsman Daren Ganga struck 15 from 12 balls before Stephen Harris bowled him.
Ryan Banwarie contributed 18 before retiring out, but Barnwell brought the chase to life with a blistering 82 from just 31 deliveries. He hammered 10 sixes and one four in a remarkable innings before Shane Prince ended his resistance.
Devon Lord added a quick-fire 26 from 12 balls, including three sixes, but the GPF officers maintained control to restrict the CPL Prestige XI to 190 from their 20 overs.
Prince led the bowling with two for 21 from four overs, while Kishundial, Harris, Antony Adams, and Captain Ravindradat Budhram each took one wicket.
The match produced a combined 430 runs, but Benn’s superb century and Ramkarran’s breathtaking late assault ultimately proved the difference as the GPF officers sealed an impressive 50-run win.
