A resident of Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara was on Thursday charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm and remanded to prison.
Toaddie Walcott, 34, a bodyguard, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court.
Particulars of the charge against him alleged that on January 4, he had a .38 revolver in his possession when he was not the holder of a firearm licence in force at the time. He was remanded to prison until February 2, after denying the allegation.
Walcott was arrested by ranks from Police ‘C’ Division during an operation on the East Coast of Demerara. Police ranks went to his home at Herod Street, Nabaclis, where they discovered the gun with its serial number filed off.
As a result, Walcott was arrested and taken to the Cove and John Police Station. The illegal gun was also lodged at the station. (G1)
