BVA season serves off today

Top local volleyball teams in the Berbice area will compete today in the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) season opener at Blairmont Community Centre ground.

The cream of the county’s players will gather for the second edition of the Ashwell “Pumpkin” Mohabir volleyball competition at the Blairmont No 2 ground, West Bank Berbice from 10:00h.

Among the top teams that have registered so far are Port Mourant Training Center- One and Two, and PMTC Juniors, Rollers of New Amsterdam, Three Door Strikers of De Edwards, Black Bush Polder, Tain Humanitarian seniors and juniors

The female teams expected to participate are, Corriverton Jets, Orealla Females and Port Mourant females.

More teams are expected. Teams are asked to turn up with their uniforms and balls if possible for early registration.

Prizes, trophies and other memorabilia’s are up for grabs and will be presented to the top teams on show.

The outstanding individuals will also be rewarded including the best setter, best spiker, most disciplined team and the best uniformed team.

The day’s competition will be played in three categories -Senior, females and juniors.

Ashwell Mohabir who hails from Blairmont is a former national player who enjoyed a long run with Castrol Strikers and is giving back to the sport he loves.
