Campbellville man shot, robbed of gold chain in early morning attack

A 37-year-old bodywork technician is nursing a gunshot wound to his chest after he was shot and robbed outside his Campbellville, Georgetown home in the early hours on Saturday. The incident occurred at approximately 00:40h at Delph Street, Georgetown, while the man was reportedly in his yard conversing with another individual. According to police, a lone male entered the yard and confronted the victim, pointing a firearm at him before snatching a yellow metal chain he was wearing at the time. The situation quickly escalated into a scuffle between the two men, during which the suspect discharged a round in the victim’s direction, with the bullet striking him on the left side of his chest.
Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading south along Delph Street and managed to escape.
The injured man was assisted by nearby residents, who rushed him to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was treated by doctors and admitted. His condition has been listed as stable.
Investigators who processed the scene recovered a 9mm spent shell, while CCTV cameras in the area were identified and are expected to be reviewed as part of ongoing efforts to identify the perpetrator. The suspect remains at large as investigations continue.
