On Monday, July 3, the Umana Yana on High Street, Kingston, Georgetown will come alive with an epic event titled “Straight Outta Texas” – the ultimate American independence celebration.
The event will commence at 16:00h and is being hosted by the Global Friendships Foundation in collaboration with American Expats living in Guyana.
Since Texas is most certainly known for its bold flavours and love of food in general, this all-American extravaganza will be offering a delicious array of tongue-tickling delights.
Keeping it Texan means keeping it simple, so this event will have in its food line-up cheeseburgers, lengthy hot dogs, colossal hamburgers, nachos, pizza, barbecue, buffalo wings, fried chicken, popcorn, fries and pulled pork.
This event will be one of the most affordable and diverse of American foods celebrations in Guyana, showcasing the bounty and delectable culinary cultures of the United States.
When it comes to drinks, the beverage bars in attendance at this US Independence Day celebration will have as their slogan “Make America Drink Again” and will stock all of the popular American cocktails such as the Martini, Manhattan, Tequila Sunrise, Margarita, together with the Long Island Iced Tea, Cosmopolitan, The Mint Julep, Daquiri, Mojito, and Piña Colada. Beer, sodas, and wines will also be available.
Aside from food and drinks, the event which the organisers are describing as an urban picnic, will entertain patrons with live musical performances from the stage featuring popular American hit music and other cultural items.
Children attending this red, white and blue Texas themed party can have their faces painted and participate in a number of games such as hotdog and watermelon eating contests.
This is a Texas-themed event and therefore the dress code that is being encouraged: jeans, sundresses, bandanas, cowboy boots, ten-gallon hats and hair as high as the heavens, for starters, as there will be prizes for the best dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl.
The public is invited to come out in their numbers and enjoy this novel event.
