Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), Ravindradat Budhram, has recognised and rewarded several members of the Top Level Cricket Club following the team’s impressive runner-up finish in the prestigious Garfield Sobers Under-19 Club Cricket Tournament in Barbados.
The presentation was held on Thursday at the Police Sports Club Ground, where Budhram commended the young cricketers for their dedication, discipline and outstanding performances throughout the regional tournament.
Leading the individual accolades was Richard Ramdeholl, who emerged as the team’s leading wicket-taker with an outstanding 19 wickets during the competition. Team Captain Mickel Sharma was also honoured after finishing as the club’s highest run-scorer with 219 runs.
Batsmen Shahid Ramzan, Kishawn Silas and Amar Persaud were recognised for their contributions after each registered half-centuries during the tournament, while bowlers Shane Prince and Kaylon Callender received special commendation for their impressive displays in the semi-finals and final, performances that also drew praise from tournament commentators.
Sharma Captained the side throughout the tournament, with Kishawn Silas serving as Vice Captain and wicketkeeper.
The Garfield Sobers Under-19 Club Cricket Tournament was held from July 11 to 25, and featured some of the Caribbean’s most promising young cricketers representing leading club teams from across the region. The Top Level Cricket Club finished as runners-up after an outstanding campaign that showcased the depth of youth cricket talent in Guyana.
The Guyana Police Force, through the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (Administration), joined several corporate and Government entities in supporting the club’s participation, reinforcing its commitment to youth development through sport.
Other sponsors backing the team’s campaign included the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport; ENet; L&L Construction; CopyFix; and E Timbers.
