EDFA postpones youth ensemble league matches due to poor ground conditions

The East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) has postponed all scheduled Under-13 and Under-15 league matches this weekend after persistent rainfall left playing venues unsuitable for football.
The association announced the decision on Friday, citing the continuous and torrential rainfall experienced over the past week, which has adversely affected the condition of the grounds.
In a statement issued by Tournament Coordinator Luan Gooding, the EDFA said the welfare of all participants was the primary consideration behind the postponement.
“Please be advised that there will be no Under-13 and Under-15 League matches this weekend due to the recent weather conditions and the current state of the playing grounds,” the statement noted.
The association added that the safety of players, officials and supporters remains its top priority and that competition will resume only when the venues are deemed fit for play.
The EDFA also informed teams and stakeholders that a revised schedule will be communicated once an assessment confirms that the grounds are suitable for football activities.
The postponement affects all fixtures that were scheduled to be played this weekend in the association’s youth competitions.
The EDFA thanked clubs, players, parents and supporters for their understanding and cooperation as it continues to monitor the situation and await improved weather conditions.
