Everest Masters win T&T Goodwill Series

The Everest Cricket Club Masters team journeyed to Trinidad and Tobago for a three-match series recently and came out victors after winning two encounters convincingly against quality opponents who played highly competitive cricket.

First game against Munroe Road Masters was played on March 9 in Chaguanas and after taking first strike, Everest muscled their way to 165 for 2 off their 20 overs. Basil Persaud made 92 (4×7; 6×3) and was supported beautifully by Richard Sukhdeo who made 47 not out (4×3).

In reply, Munroe Road Masters were restricted to 141 for 8 off 20 overs with former T7T national player Richard Mangolie hitting the top score of 37 and Lookesh Rampersaud got 29. Bowling for Everest Masters, Ucil Armstrong claimed 4/10 from his 4 overs, Ronald “Sticky” Jaisingh picked up 2 for 18 from 4 overs and Rabindranauth Seeram claimed 2/11 from 4 overs to give Everest Masters victory by 24 runs and a good start to the series.

The Everest Masters then turned their attention to Clarke Road Veterans. In the game that was played in Penal the hosts leveled the series after a 21-run victory.

Clarke Road batted first and scored a challenging 172/6 off their 20 overs. Former Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies opening batsman Suruj Ragunauth scored 53 (4×4; 6×2), Ramesh Bhagoo made 32 and Mukesh Persaud 35 not out (4×2; 6×2). Bowling for Everest Masters Rakesh Gangaram had 2-16 from 4 overs and Rabindranauth Seeram had 2-22 from 4 overs.

Everest Masters replied with 151/8 with Hafeez Ali blasting 46, Richard Sukhdeo stroking 24, Hemraj Garbarran compiling 25 while Imtiaz Sadik got 24 (6×3).

With the series locked at 1-1 it was all to play for as Everest Masters took on P.Y.O Masters at the Eddie Hart Savannah with nothing less than victory on their minds. Everest batted first and scored 165/8 off 20 overs with Rabindrtanauth Seeram showing consistency in scoring 43 while Richard Sukhdeo and Hemraj Garbarran were also among the runs again hitting 29 and 28 respectively. Bowling for P.Y.O. Brian Singh had 3-12 from 4 overs.

After a promising start, P.Y.O. Masters slipped and were eventually halted at 138/8 off 20 overs with Robert Perreira making 54 not out and Brian Singh 21. Bowling for Everest, Rajesh Singh picked up 2-16 from 4 overs, Imtiaz Sadik had 2-11 from 3 overs to Everest Masters victory by 27 runs and the series 2-1.
