The Guyana Amazon Warriors have confirmed that Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz will replace New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips in their squad for the upcoming ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL). Phillips is unavailable for GSL owing to injury.
Gurbaz returns to the Amazon Warriors set-up with a wealth of experience and strong familiarity with the franchise. The explosive top-order batter previously represented the Warriors during the 2022 and 2024 editions of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), where he established himself as one of the most exciting players in the competition.

He also played an important role in the Warriors’ successful ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League campaign in 2025, helping the team capture the title. His return provides the squad with proven firepower at the top of the order, as well as valuable experience in local conditions and within the team’s environment.
The third edition of the GSL is scheduled for Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Reigning champions Guyana Amazon Warriors will seek to defend their home turf against Pakistan Super League’s (PSL’s) Lahore Qalandars, Big Bash’s Perth Scorchers, Major League Cricket’s (MLC’s) San Francisco Unicorns and the United Arab Emirates’ International League T20’s (ILT20’s) Desert Vipers. A US$1 million prize purse will be on the line.
Tickets for the event are currently on sale at the GAW Box Office at 233-234 Camp Street, Georgetown.
