As new health post was on Friday commissioned at Eye Lash, Region One (Barima-Waini) to further advance the Government’s commitment to equitable healthcare access across Guyana.

The newly commissioned facility is designed to provide essential primary healthcare services to residents within the community. It includes a clinical section for patient care and a living quarter for healthcare workers, ensuring that medical personnel are readily available to serve residents.
In his address, Health Minister, Dr Frank Anthony emphasised that the establishment of the health post reflects the Government’s ongoing efforts to expand healthcare services, particularly in hinterland and remote communities.
He commended the regional health team for their initiative in identifying the need and working collaboratively with the Ministry to make the project a reality.

The Minister noted that residents will now have easier access to vital services such as vaccinations for children, maternal healthcare and treatment for common illnesses, including malaria.
“This facility will significantly improve the quality of healthcare available to the people of this community,” the Minister said, while also urging residents to take ownership and care of the building. In addition, he handed over a new All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) to the community.
