As investigations continue into a shooting incident that occurred last week in the vicinity of the Mantra Bar in Kitty, Georgetown, a black Glock-19 firearm has been recovered in an empty lot on Thursday.

The Police have said that, acting on information received, a team of ranks searched an empty lot in Lamaha Gardens and stumbled upon a black plastic bag in a white food box, wherein was contained a black Glock-19 firearm with its serial number filed off. The lot searched is completely fenced, and has an incomplete concrete structure thereon.
The firearm was picked up, along with its concealment, and the magazine, which had no ammunition, was ejected.
It has been reported that on Sunday evening, Deon Jerrick was in the company of friends in the vicinity of the Mantra Restaurant and Lounge when they became involved in an argument with a 28-year-old suspect. That argument resulted in ‘gun play’ in which both the victim and the suspect discharged rounds at each other. In the process, Deon Jerrick received a wound to the left side of his body at just below his armpit.
After the shooting, the suspect ran south along Lamaha Street, but was later apprehended by the Police; while Deon Jerrick, supported by one of his friends, was taken to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, where he was treated.
Investigations are ongoing.
