GFA/NALICO Senior Men’s Knockout Tournament kicks off April 26

The Georgetown Football Association (GFA) Senior Men’s Knockout Tournament, sponsored by NALICO/NAFICO, is set to commence on Sunday, April 26, at the Plaisance Community Ground, marking the start of the competition featuring 12 teams divided into four groups.
The opening night will feature two matches, with Camptown FC taking on Eastveldt FC from 19:00h in Group A, followed by a Group B encounter between Riddim Squad FC and Ordis FC at 21:00h. The group-stage fixtures will continue on April 28, April 30, May 2, May 3, and May 5, with teams competing in a round-robin format within their respective groups at the same venue.
Group A comprises Camptown FC, Eastveldt FC, and Northern Rangers FC, while Group B consists of Riddim Squad FC, Ordis FC, and Genesis FC. Group C features Beacons FC, North Stars FC, and Motherland FC, with Group D made up of Black Pearl FC, Vengy FC, and Pele FC.

Key early match-ups include Beacons FC against North Stars FC and Black Pearl FC versus Vengy FC on April 28, while Riddim Squad FC will return to face Genesis FC on April 30. The group stage concludes on May 5, with North Stars FC meeting Motherland FC in the final scheduled preliminary fixture.
The competition will then advance to the semi-final stage on May 7, where the winners of Group A will oppose the winners of Group C, and the top team from Group B will face the Group D winners. The third-place playoff and final are both scheduled for May 9 at the Plaisance venue, bringing the tournament to a close.
At a simple ceremony held Tuesday in the company’s boardroom, NALICO/NAFICO expressed satisfaction in partnering with the GFA, noting that youth development remained the central benefit of the initiative. The insurance company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes that contribute to the growth of young athletes and the wider football landscape in Guyana.
