The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has announced that the second round of its endurance championship, the Dakota 100, will be held on June 28 at the South Dakota Circuit as the venue prepares to debut a newly upgraded racing surface.
The announcement was made on Saturday, with the club confirming that enhancement works at the circuit are nearing completion ahead of what is expected to be a key event in the 2026 circuit racing season. The endurance race, which begins at 12:00h, will also feature motorcycle competition and track-day activities.

The GMR&SC has announced that the second round of its endurance championship, the Dakota 100, will be held on June 28 at the South Dakota Circuit

According to the GMR&SC, the event is expected to attract many of the country’s leading drivers and riders as competitors continue their pursuit of championship points. The second round follows a competitive opening event and could prove crucial in shaping the standings as the season progresses.
Fans can expect a packed programme of activities, with circuit racing and motorcycle action complemented by a track day segment designed to give participants the opportunity to experience the circuit in a controlled environment. The initiative is intended to help drivers improve their skills, assess vehicle performance and gain valuable track time.
The June 28 meeting will also serve as the first competitive event on the upgraded South Dakota Circuit. Club officials revealed that while the layout remains unchanged, competitors will encounter several notable differences due to the resurfacing and modification works completed over recent weeks.
One official noted that drivers and riders will have to familiarise themselves with a completely new racing surface and a number of changes around the facility.
Among the major improvements is the flattening of the front straightaway, removing a dip that had become a familiar feature of the circuit over the years. Officials believe the modifications will create new challenges for competitors as they adapt to the updated conditions.
With racers needing time to adjust to the revamped venue, the club is also exploring unofficial practice sessions ahead of the GT3 Challenge De Las Americas, which are scheduled for July 12 and 13.
The event has received support from sponsors Castrol, GUYOIL, E-Networks and One Guyana, whose continued backing has contributed to the development of local motorsport.
As work on the circuit enters its final stages, attention now turns to June 28, when competitors will get their first opportunity to test themselves on the upgraded South Dakota track in what promises to be an important round of the endurance championship.
