Housing Ministry presses contractors to fast-track electrical works on ongoing projects

The Housing Ministry on Wednesday engaged electrical contractors and suppliers to assess progress on ongoing electrical infrastructure works and reinforce the importance of timely completion of projects across housing developments nationwide.
The session formed part of the Ministry’s continued efforts to closely monitor infrastructure works within housing schemes and ensure that essential services are delivered to allottees as quickly and efficiently as possible.
During the meeting, contractors provided detailed updates on the status of ongoing electrical works in several housing developments across the country.

Minister Collin Croal underscored the importance of completing the electrical networks within the various housing developments promptly, noting that these works are critical to ensuring residents can fully benefit from the Government’s housing programme.
As such, contractors were urged to increase their manpower and other resources where necessary to accelerate outstanding works and meet project timelines.
The engagement also provided contractors with the opportunity to openly discuss the challenges affecting project execution, including operational and logistical issues.
In addition, concerns were raised by the contractors, but they reaffirmed their commitment to working collaboratively with others to address obstacles while maintaining the expected standards and timelines.
Contractors also highlighted areas where significant progress has already been made and reiterated their commitment to completing their respective projects.
The Ministry reaffirmed that regular engagements with contractors remain an important part of its strategy to monitor project implementation, resolve challenges promptly, and ensure that the necessary infrastructure is completed to support the continued expansion of housing developments across Guyana.
