The Guyana Jaguars suffered a batting collapse to be bowled out for 293 just before stumps on day one of their second round clash in the Digicel Regional Four Day Tournament against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Warner Park in Basseterre St. Kitts on Friday.

inform Rajendra Chandrika and Shimron Hetmyer putting on 84 for the first wicket. Raheem Cornwall got the break through when the pugnacious Hetmyer edged behind for a classy 53 decorated with nine fours and a six from just 60 balls. Two balls later, the Jaguars skipper Leon Johnson fell for a duck and was followed shortly by Vishaul Singh who was bowled by Hayden Walsh Jr for 7.

Chandrika got to his second consecutive half century and at 147/3 was forced to retire hurt after complaining of not feeling well. The solid right hander was on 64 from 138 balls with six fours and a six. Christopher Barnwell who replaced Eon Hooper in the team didn’t stick around too long while Raymon Reifer hit an attacking 23 (1×4; 2×6).

Wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble who is short of runs stuck round with Chanderpaul in a 66-run partnership before being dismissed to begin the lower order slide. Cornwall ended with another five-wicket haul to take his tally in the tournament so far to 14.

The veteran left-hander, Chanderpaul was not out on 81 from 148 balls with nine four and a six, his second consecutive half century of the tournament as the Jaguars fell seven runs short of a third batting point after batting 83.2 overs. Chandrika did not come out back.

The Hurricanes openers Kieran Powell and Montcin Hodge then survived four overs without much fuss as three Jaguars bowlers were used.

Meanwhile, at Sabina Park hosts Jamaica Scorpions were reeling on 83 for 6 at the end of a rain abbreviated opening day. Shane Shillingford picked up three wickets from seven overs of off-spin while Delorn Johnson and Kyle Mayers accounted for three more from the 36 overs taht were bowled.

Opener John Campbell top scored with 32 while Devon Thomas is not out on 18.
