The 19th edition of the KFC National School Basketball Festival will tip off on Sunday, June 28, with more than a week of school basketball action scheduled for Georgetown.
The tournament will run from June 28 to July 5, with matches set for the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH), Homestretch Avenue and the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue. The opening ceremony is scheduled for Sunday at 13:00h, while the daily start time for the festival is also listed as 13:00h.
This year’s competition will feature four divisions: Girls, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18. The tournament is expected to showcase some of the top young basketball players from schools across the country as teams compete for national honours.

Action on the opening day will feature Girls and Under-16 matches, with President’s College, Queen’s College, Marian Academy, JC Chandisingh Secondary, Tutorial Academy, Hururu Secondary, Berbice High, The Bishops’ High, Mackenzie High, St Stanislaus College and St Rose’s High among the schools listed in the early fixtures.
The Girls’ division will be contested in two groups. Group A includes President’s College, Marian Academy and JC Chandisingh Secondary, while Group B features Queen’s College, Tutorial Academy and Hururu Secondary.
The tournament will continue with quarter-finals and preliminary games from June 29 to July 2, before the festival shifts focus to its High School All-Star showcase on July 3. The All-Star programme will include a Junior All-Star Game, Girls All-Star Game and Senior All-Star Game.
The semi-finals are scheduled for July 4, with matches across the Girls, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 divisions. The festival will conclude on July 5 with the four finals, beginning with the Under-14 championship game at 16:00h.
The Girls’ final will follow at 17:15h, while the Under-16 final is set for 18:30h. The tournament will close with the Under-18 final at 20:00h.
The National School Basketball Festival is being staged by Youth Basketball Guyana, with Edward B Beharry and Company Limited as title sponsor. G-Boats Guyana is also listed among the sponsors, while the event is being held in partnership with the Ministry of Education and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport.
