Kitty woman further remanded for ganga in pillow

After listening to a bail submission by Defence Attorney Euclin Gomes for Nikita Poole, the Kitty woman who was early last month reportedly found with ganga hidden in her pillow, Magistrate Judy Latchman further remanded her to prison.
Poole was taken into Police custody and later charged when Police allegedly found the cannabis hidden in her pillow during a raid in the area.
The 24-year-old woman, of Stanley Place, Kitty, Georgetown, denied that the drug found belonged to her when she first appeared before the Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan. It is alleged that she had 252.5 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking on August 8, 2017.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore had told the Court that Police were at the time conducting a raid when Poole’s premises were searched.
The woman reportedly attempted to hide the ganga in her pillow; however, it was unearthed by the law enforcement officers.
As such, she was arrested and charged with the present offence and was remanded on her first court appearance.
In requesting bail for his client, Gomes told the Court that Poole was not a flight risk and would not fail to report to the Police Station if it was a condition of her bail.
However, the request was denied and Poole was further remanded to prison. The case will continue on September 29.
